Perhaps FAUX's most successful
franchise, Las Vegas took the league by storm in 1994, when, as the
Vegas Vikings, they earned a wildcard berth on the heels of an impressive
10-win inaugral campaign. But
the road to glory had a few bumps. Following
their eye-opening inaugral success, the then-Vikings suffered a dismal
5-9 sophomore season in 1995, followed by a failed attempt to capture
the FAUX Olympic market as the Sydney Wombats in '96 (4-10). Returning
to their roots as in 1997, the franchise was determined to change
their luck. In their fifth season, the
re-focused franchise showed it had "the eye of the tiger"
and captured its first of four league championships. Vegas has since
built upon that success by earning three more championship titles,
along the way becoming only the second team in FAUX history to earn
three FAUX titles and to win back-to-back championships (Baltimore
1996-97). In short time, the Vikings have established themselves as
a league powerhouse, posting four championship pennants in that span.
Las Vegas has seven playoff appearances and one of the top winning
percentages in FAUX history (.571). In
the four season period between 1998 and 2001, during which Las Vegas
won three of its titles, the Hitmen went 39-17 (.696).Despite winning
only 4 games in 2006, it was enough for the Hitmen to surpass the
100-win mark in only their thirteenth season.
