When the Petaluma
War Pigs stumbled to their second consecutive losing season in 2006,
making their back-to-back-to-back
title run of 2002 through 2004 seem like ancient history.
In their eighteen campaigns, the franchise has captured a league-best
five FAUX crowns, won twelve division titles, and made 16 playoff
appearances, while earning a formidable .670 winning percentage.
In 1999, the War Pigs set
the league record for most wins in a season, posting a 13-1 mark.
Along
with the Baltimore Buzzsaws and Las Vegas Hitmen, this is one of only
three FAUX teams to have won multiple league championships. The franchise
relocated in Petaluma following the 1992 season, where they made the
Pig Pen their home.
Despite their pathetic season marks in 2005 and 2006,
the Pigs still average over 9 wins per season.
A FAUX charter franchise, the Pigs were began the inaugral season
as the Boston Stranglers, but unable to find suitable facilities in
New England, the club relocated to Pittsburgh prior
to the opening kickoff, becoming
the War Pigs.
